Nairobi Weather

When planning a Nairobi vacation, one may think that this African capital is scorching hot, but in actuality, we enjoy a very pleasant climate here in Kenya. Nairobi’s elevation of 5,500 feet (1,600 metres) keeps the air nice and mild when compared to the countryside. Generally speaking, the weather in Nairobi is consistent year round with warm, clear skies; though we do get some seasonal rains.

The two rainy seasons in Nairobi usually last from March to May and November to December. This does not mean monsooning floods of rain, but during this time the skies tend to grow cloudier with showers. These rains may impact the activities that you expect to join during your time in Kenya.

The influx of temperatures is small compared to other African destinations, but we do enjoy some changes in the seasons. Between January and April are our warmest months, and then the temperature will dip down until it rises again in October. February through April tend to be our hottest months when the mercury will go up to about 26 C (78 F) during the day and down to about 13 C (55 F) at night. The cooler times to visit Nairobi are July and August, during this time of year the highs go up to about 21 C (70 F) and the temperature can get down to 10 C (50 F).
